Hey Michael, how have you been?

Just thought I’d send you a line even though I know you hang around sometimes…and I know I can talk to whenever I want. I can feel you especially in the car when I am driving alone and one of your old bands, Pink Floyd, Eagles or a song I remember you liked comes on so I turn up the music, and belt out the old tunes and just for a few minutes it feels like you are sitting right there next to me, just like the good old days…I  actually can sense you right there with me and you know that I know you are there…even if its just for a minute…

I like to think you pop in every now and then to look after your nephew and niece when I am not around, just like I have asked you to, to keep an eye on them, lend a hand where you can…be my eyes and protect them from harm…you know they always thought the world of you, their Uncle Michael.  I hope as they get older they won’t forget you, they were so young …12 and 11…its comforting for me to know they have angels to watch out for them.

Speaking of which, the last time I spoke with my medium friend Vicki, she said you were all together, the three of you, with Rusty and Scarlet too!  I should have known Mum wouldn’t be without those dogs even in the spirit world 🙂

You know I’m 52 this year, yeah, I shake my head at that too…that means you would have already turned 54 on Jan 3rd, and I bet you would have only looked like you were turning 40…and still with that cheeky grin…

Speaking of which, why did you pick that age to say goodbye, not that you said goodbye mind you, just went out like a candle being blown out.  I am so glad you didn’t suffer, I have been to plenty of mediums over the years who have all assured me you hit the ground before you even knew what was going on…there’s a comfort in knowing this…

So much has evolved since you left.  Nearly everything we do these days revolves around the internet, our banking, online shopping and much socialising through a tool called facebook. We can even do all of that on our phones these days, much different to your old little ‘Erickson’ phone which I still have in a box.  I dont think this life would have grabbed you, you were a simple bloke – you didnt like much of the computer stuff.  In fact a couple of days before you left, I remember you had visited (which was unusual) to drop off your resume for me to update for you, that was the last time I saw you when you said goodnight at Winston Road…

Talking of Facebook, I’m friends online with a couple of your old mates, The MacLeods, Fruns and Muzz.  Its good talking to them, we all reminisce occasionally, they miss you lots too.  Actually Brad has named his cat after you, ‘Thommo’, now that’s a hoot because he is just like you, running off and getting into trouble all the time…sometimes not coming home at all, now who does that remind you of?

The family are all good, Damian has retired now, Jac’s the next one to turn 50 this year then the twins the year after – yep, we are all getting older, well, all of us except you, you’ll now be 40 forever…

Time for me to go now Michael, but just thought of you today as I heard another one of your old bands on the radio.  So I wanted to share it with those here to remember you by, its an old Cheap Trick song and one which reminds me of you most of  all…Turn it up!

Miss you mate,

your little sis x
