I personally love winter,
I love the contrast it brings with its bare trees and the occasional sneak of colour among the greys. I love dusting off my boots and getting them on when the weather turns cold and I particularly love buying myself new scarves and gloves, a tradition I have allowed myself to nurture for many a year now. I look around at all my favourite stores and treat myself to a beautiful new scarf, new finger less gloves and new winter pj’s, its a real treat getting into and wearing those beautiful new items to beat those winter blues..
I love seeing what each new season brings from either Sussans or Peter Alexander but most of all I love curling on the couch in front of the fire with my pj’s and slippers when its dark outside, wind swirling up from the coast and a pile of books to get totally lost in on a cold wintry night…
I have fallen in love with the many varieties of soup you can make in winter and love getting out the slow cooker at night for hot winter meals to keep my family warm and on a weekend morning I mostly enjoy a big bowl of hot porridge with banana, berries and cinnamon with a dash of maple syrup.

So what winter rituals do you have?
Here’s a few ideas of how I like to survive through winter:
Buying good quality warm woollies, jumpers, ponchos, gloves and scarves I have found make all the difference to how I enjoy my winters as I get older. Find some beautiful waterproof boots to keep your feet warm on those wettest days out in the weather. The money you outlay on a good pair of boots pays you back for years. As long as you are warm and dry in the winter outside, then the coldness doesn’t seem to bother you as much.
Treat yourself to that extra blanket to put on the bed for the really cold nights to ensure a cosy sleep without waking up because you are too cold.
Who loves beautiful winter blankets& throws as much as I do? I am a sucker for those soft greys, charcoals and cream throws and absolutely love sitting at home with one over my knees or around my shoulders on a cold wintry night.
I would have a whole house full of them…if I could…
So, set yourself up near the fire/heater with those warm clothes/pj’s or blankets and grab yourself a comforting hot drink like a hot chocolate or cup or tea to enjoy your winter evening…I know that’s what I am doing 🙂
Post note, as you are reading this blog post, I am proud to say this little blog has hit over 3000 views with over 200 readers. Its an incredible joy to me that many of you have been with me from the very beginning when I decided to write about my seachange from an Australian city to the coastal Bellarine, of working my way through the highs and lows in our lives and throughout it all keeping my eyes firmly planted on the dreams my husband and I wish to create as we navigate through our life together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sticking around and for those who have recently joined I hope you stay a while and enjoy the stories which are inspired from living at mybeachreatreat…xx
